So after about a year and a half of its release, I finally watched “The Good Place”, and man was I pleasantly surprised!
This show is intensely good! Like the ‘I can’t stop going for the next episode’ good! It’s intensely delightful and lighthearted. Just the right amount of humor, fun and drama.
I tried to ask myself why I liked it so much, and here are a few of the reasons I can think of:
- It’s funny! The light type, although some can get you to ROFL. If you’re into ‘Parks and Recreation”, “Brooklyn Nine Nine” or “The Office” kind of humor, then you’ll love this. It turns out the same creator did all of them, and this show too, so that makes sense.
- It’s original. The concept of this show is so new that you never really know where the story would go.
- It’s pretty. It’s so pretty it’s like everyday is spring. The cast is also very lovable. Although sometimes I get the hang of Anna with Kristen Bell’s voice, but that’s not too bad anyway.
- It makes you really think and reflect as it introduces interesting concepts on morality and philosophy in general. Very thought-provoking, yet delivered in a very delightful and engaging way.
I am still not over the more philosophical thoughts so I might throw out some rants on my feed later on about them. Damn this got me hooked!
To be honest, I think the things I said above are barely scratching the surface of what this show is about, so it’s best you just try watching the pilot episode to see what I mean. And by the way, Season two is even better!
Update: Season 1 and 2 are now available in local Netflix! And if you are lucky enough to be in a specific region, you get new episodes of Season 3 every week! iFlix now also has new episodes of Season 3 every week.
